The 1st Annual Get Fit Chilliwack Challenge wrapped up on June 26 with measuring tapes, push-ups, and a lot of big smiles. We were both shocked and thrilled about their weight and inches lost, and increase in fitness level.
“To be able to climb Teapot Hill was one of my goals I set when I started this challenge. It was tough but I DID IT! I never dreamed I would ever be able to climb the hill again”, says Cathy Walsh.
Ascend Fitness Coaching, in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley Human Performance Center launched the challenge to inspire Chilliwack residents to improve their health and to raise funds for the Chilliwack Hospital & Health Care Foundation (CHHCF). The participants followed exercise programs suitable for their personal goals and fitness level, attended weekly support and educational meetings, took part in hikes, and learned about healthy eating.
Donna Dixson, Director of Community Relations for CHHCF, said “The Get Fit Chilliwack Challenge organized by Ascend Fitness, was the perfect start to our Basic Training Campaign – Eat, Sleep and Get Going. We look forward to working with more of our partners on initiatives of this kind and congratulations to all 68 participants for taking this huge step on a journey towards a healthy life. We are very grateful to have been chosen as the charity of choice for the Get Fit Chilliwack Challenge. “
