Your heart is one of the most important organs in your body. We want to take the best care of it possible. To keep your heart as healthy as possible, here are a few things to remember:
❤️ Stay active, even, and especially if you’re busy. Regular movement is one of the best ways you can protect your heart. Even if you have a busy schedule, ask yourself, “what CAN I do?” You don’t have to go for a sixty-minute run to reap the benefits of movement. A brisk walk for 15-20 minutes done frequently is better than the more occasional, longer cardio session. Doing frequent movement is also going to help you manage stress.
❤️ Manage stress. Chronic stress affects every part of our body. It can lead to higher blood pressure and put an extra demand on our hearts. Find a way to manage stress, that works for you. Many people find regular exercise is a great way to de-stress. Others turn to things like meditation, journal writing, or creative projects like painting or colouring. Do something that truly helps you unwind and keep your stress at lower levels.
❤️ Look for ways to elevate the quality of your meals. This can include more whole foods, particularly vegetables and fruits. You might also want to reduce salt and caffeine as well.
These small changes can go a long way to helping keep your heart healthy.
